Comparison

Aulency or Notion

Notion offers databases, recurring templates and automations. You configure the rules for your routine; Aulency includes the lesson and student invoice workflow.

In Notion, the maintenance is yours

A teacher template in Notion is a database someone else built, with a rate formula, a relation between student and lesson and a calendar view. It works until you need a one-off lesson at a different price, a make-up lesson with no charge or different billing days for each student. From then on, you are the one adjusting the formulas. In Aulency, those rules are already part of the system.

Automations need a billing workflow

Notion has recurring templates and database automations, with features that vary by plan. Student invoices, PIX QR codes and payment tracking require configured rules and connected services. Aulency includes the invoice and PIX in the lesson workflow; the student reports payment and the teacher confirms it.

A shared page does not replace the student portal

You can share a Notion page with the parent, but they see everything on it, and you manage the permissions one by one. In Aulency, each student has their own access and sees only their lessons, invoices and reports.

Criteria and sources

Each row compares the workflow it describes. “Partial” includes a different scope, configuration or edition limits. “Not built in” does not mean the workflow cannot be built with integrations. We consider Google Sheets with WhatsApp, Notion Free and paid plans, and Classroom with personal accounts and Google Workspace for Education.

When Notion is better

For planning lessons, storing materials, building a curriculum and taking notes, Notion is excellent, and many teachers use both. A split that works well is Notion for the content and Aulency for students, schedule, invoices and receipts.
